Desert Island Decor - Episode 2 feat. Mad About The House's Interior Must-Haves

It’s time for a new episode of Desert Island Decor…finally! When I launched this as an IGTV series back in March (in case you missed it, it was featuring the beautiful Max Made Me Do It house) I was planning to have a new one ready to share with you every six weeks. But I had roped my friend in to film the first one for me as a favour but she has a day job and couldn’t keep getting her to do it for me, so it took me a little while to find a videographer to work with. But the perseverance paid off and I me the brilliant Rekha from Picture Rex and there’s no stopping me now. And every cloud and all that, while I was searching, waiting and planning, I managed to persuade my friend Kate Watson-Smyth (of Mad About The House) to allow me into the Mad House so she could share with me the 6 interiors items she couldn’t live without. I’m so grateful to her for taking the time to to talk to do this.

When I conceived of this series, I always wanted it to be about stories. The stories behind the pieces in our home that really mean something to us, whether it’s family heirlooms, special birthday presents, things that make you laugh or simply the coffee machine that you need to start your day. As bloggers we often share pictures of our house and talk about styling tips, paint colours etc but we rarely focus on objects which have sentimental value to us. With her blog, her two best-selling books and her podcast The Great Indoors (which is something she hosts with Sophie Robinson) Kate is someone whose house we are very familiar with. But I was fascinated to find out about her most treasured possessions. She’s also a great storyteller, and she didn’t let me down here.

Click below to find out more about the pieces that make Kate tick, and find out which Insta-famous iconic piece of furniture the Mad House husband has had to get used to.
